Alexa officially dropped out of summer camp today.
She had been a little nervous every morning, but it was manageable (so long as there was a counselor to restrain her when we dropped her off). She had fun every day and would come home and tell us about her day.
Last Thursday, however, a counselor pushed her to swim in the lake when she didn't really want to. (She doesn't like "cold" water). For any other kid, this wouldn't have been a big deal, but to Alexa it was. Even though we asked the counselors to excuse her from swim, she didn't want to go back to camp at all. She wouldn't get dressed in the morning, she'd try to escape out of the car and back into the house, and she was even worse at drop off.
It got so bad, we couldn't take it anymore. It really wasn't fair to the other kids and counselors -- there were other activities that she wouldn't participate in too. Most camps would have already kicked her out.
Rick's mom is able to watch Alexa while we are at work, but this means it will be a hard transition when she had to go back to school in September.
Not to mention, I can't get back two weeks of camp I've paid for, but at least I didn't lose out on paying for the whole summer.
What are we going to do with Alexa?
