We left late last evening on our road trip to Florida and made some very good time. The girls slept for a while and I drove us out of New York. We normally stop for the night in Southern PA, but our GPS took us a different way. Rick wasn't tired so when we stopped for gas 4 miles from the PA-MD state line, Rick took over driving. He had a lot of caffeine in his system so he drove a few more hours than we normally would. The girls both woke up a few times and Alexa was begging to sleep in a bed, so we stopped for the night at a Holiday Inn Express in Falmouth, Virginia - just outside of Fredericksburg which is between Washington DC and Richmond. It was around 4:30 in the morning and we were all so tired. The hotel is nice and the rooms look to be recently remodeled. More importantly - the beds and pillows were pretty comfortable.
Caitlin, of course, is up early - at least it was later than the usual 6:15am! There were no cartoon channels on the TV so she is having fun at the desk writing on the free pad of paper. Alexa and Rick are trying to eek out every bit of sleep they can.
We'll be on the road again soon. We have about 14 more hours of driving time and a day and a half to do it. Not bad!
